Texas (1836)
When the Republic of Texas declared independence from Mexico on 2 March 1836, this was the flag that was flying over Washington-on-the-Brazos. The flag, known as the Dodson Flag was deemed too similar to the flag of France and was replaced later that year by the Burnet Flag, which featured a single gold star on a bright blue background.
