Belgium (1790)
The short-lived United Belgian States adopted the first version of the Belgian flag. In its original form the tricolour was horizontal and the stripes were in a different order. Another horizontal tricolour was adopted in 1830 during the Belgian Revolution. In both cases the colours were taken from the coat of arms of Brabant.
