Republican People’s Party (1935-Present) Mustafa Kemal Atatürk founded the Republican People’s Party on 9 September 1923. The party’s flag represents represents the “Six Arrows” of Kemalist ideology: secularim, republicanism, statism, nationalism, populism, and reformism. Today is also the anniversary of the re-establishment of the party in 1992, after the ban on pre-coup parties in Turkey was lifted.
