Portugal (1830-1910)
October 5 is Republic Day in Portugal, the anniversary of the abolition of the monarchy and the proclamation of the First Republic. Before the republican period, the colours of the Portuguese flag were not green and red but blue and white, based on the coat of arms of the House of Burgundy. The ensign of the period had it colours shifted towards the hoist the same as the modern flag.
