1. Puntland (2009-Present)
The self-declared state of Puntland, which has functioned autonomously in the northeast of Somalia since 1998, finally adopted a distinct flag on 22 December 2009. The top stripe represents the flag of Somalia, the white stripe represents peace and stability, and the green stripe represents the territory’s natural resources.
