1. Acadia (1884-Present)

    28 July is a Day of Commemoration of the Great Upheaval, the expulsion of the French-speaking Acadians from the Maritimes during the French and Indian War. Much of the exiled population ended up in Louisiana, where they became known as Cajuns. Those that remained in Canada and Maine adopted the French flag with a golden star representing the Virgin Mary.
